Scion "The Siege of Shadow Valley Ranch" Chapter 3: Regulators’ Reckoning

The last day at Shadow Valley Ranch begins with answers—and bigger questions. Hassan and Jesse follow tracks out into the desert and stumble on the truth behind the strange runes circling the property, the stolen monster, and the men who’ve been betting on the Scions’ failure. With the herd still penned behind a thinning barrier and a hungry predator on the loose, the four friends have to stop thinking like underpaid ranch hands and start acting like the heroes everyone keeps insisting they are. What follows is part heist, part hunt: a desperate plan involving stolen trucks, bait laid in blood, and a narrow gap in the warding line that might be their only advantage. As engines roar and something terrible answers their call, the group has to decide not just how far they’ll go to protect Kieran’s cattle, but what kind of people they’re going to be when the dust finally settles. Whatever happens in that last run into the desert, when the Regulators roll back to the ranch, nothing about their lives—or their sense of what they’re capable of—will be quite the same. About the Chronicle The Siege of Shadow Valley Ranch is a Scion Second Edition story set a few months after the events of A Light Extinguished. Returning to the scorching outskirts of Phoenix, it follows Hassan, Jesse, Nick, and Gary—ordinary people turned nascent heroes—as they navigate blue-collar divinity: side gigs, strained romances, cramped budgets, and the sudden responsibility of guarding a god-touched herd.
