Chapter 1: What media training experience does Trev share?

0.031 - 20.435 Trevor Long

So look, it's been a week. So you know that a couple of times I've done media training here at the office with our good friends at Belkin, right? They come here, they sit in your seat, and I interview them. They've got the lights on. It's intense. It's a good way to train whether or not you're going to be able to perform under pressure. And it's a fun thing we do.

0

20.455 - 39.654 Trevor Long

And David Wolf, our good mate, you know, takes them downstairs. They teach us some things and everything. Anyway, so in the diary, in my diary, I had blanked out. And then for the days before, I normally write, don't forget to clean the office and whatnot. But I've been in China, right? So I'm like, geez, I get back on Thursday. They're here on the Monday. I need to do it on the Friday.

0

39.934 - 47.842 Trevor Long

But we had other things on. So I put in the family diary because it's going to be a week. I put Sunday, I put clean the office. Oh, you put it in the family diary.

0

47.862 - 49.504 Stephen Fenech

So that they knew I wasn't going to be home on Sunday, right?

0

49.524 - 60.758 Trevor Long

So you recruited everybody. No, no. That was so they knew that I was going to be home. But when I get home on Thursday night from the airport, they're all like, so what time are we coming to the office on Sunday? And I'm like, what are you talking about? They go, we're cleaning the office.

Chapter 2: Why did Trev forget to clean the office?

60.778 - 80.824 Trevor Long

I went, no, it's fine. I'll get it done. Amanda's like, no, it's fine. I'll come. We'll do it. And to be clear, she's always said she's happy to come and help. And I've always said, I think we'll get divorced. Yeah. Because you're going to see all the stuff. I'm a hoarder and, you know, she'll want to throw things away and yada, yada, yada.

0

80.864 - 99.815 Trevor Long

And I'd said to you also, my plan up here was to get rid of everything that wasn't needed up here. So the silver trolley over there, it's gone. Oh, gone. Desk configuration back to standard because it opens the room up. You're facing that way again. Opens the room up more, right? What happened to your big monitor? I'm testing the studio display just because I thought it was in a box.

0

99.835 - 102.278 Stephen Fenech

I thought I might as well take it out of a box, right? Mine's still in the box too.

0

102.298 - 111.672 Trevor Long

Remember we did the DJI on the last two blocks? Yeah, yeah, the pocket. Someone in the comments goes, that really broke the fourth wall, the ceiling behind the scenes because you could see the office.

0

111.692 - 113.054 Stephen Fenech

Yeah, I did read that comment. Yeah, it's good.

113.274 - 118.101 Trevor Long

Anyway, so on the Friday, I started that process, bringing shit downstairs.

Chapter 3: What cleaning plans did Trev make with his family?

118.342 - 133.362 Trevor Long

I moved my desk back and I had still a lot of work to do up here on the weekend. And then I went, you know what? Fine, guys, come. Come to the office. A bit of a family thing. Yeah. I put it in the – when I put something in the door, I just drag a big block and I go, this is what I'm going to do. And I get up at 8.30 and they're both downstairs.

0

133.382 - 134.884 Stephen Fenech

8.30, you woke up on Sunday?

0

135.064 - 135.204 Trevor Long

Yeah.

0

Chapter 4: How did Trev's family react to cleaning the office?

135.224 - 140.251 Trevor Long

They go, you're late. Wow, I'm sleeping. And I'm like, what are you talking about? They go, we were meant to be at the office at 8 o'clock. I went, calm down, guys.

0

140.271 - 141.132 Stephen Fenech

Jeez. Just everyone calmed down.

0

141.152 - 145.918 Trevor Long

Sicklers. Anyway, so I'm preparing myself for this. And then – So how?

0

145.938 - 147.88 Stephen Fenech

Was it everyone or just was Jackson involved?

0

147.9 - 151.785 Trevor Long

Well, Victoria's fast asleep. Jackson's either at work or fast asleep.

151.805 - 153.327 Stephen Fenech

Was it his girlfriend or something? I don't know.

153.982 - 158.468 Trevor Long

Yeah, so it wasn't going to be Jackson. It was going to be me, Harry and Victoria and Amanda. Right.

Chapter 5: What cleaning strategies did Trev and Amanda implement?

158.488 - 172.987 Trevor Long

And by the way, Harry and Victoria come here every week, so they know the state of the place. They know where everything is, whatever. So I'd already done a broad little clean-up downstairs, pushed things to the side, set it up so that David could come and the team was ready to go. But it was stacks on. It was like Amanda went to Bunnings.

0

173.068 - 187.662 Trevor Long

She went and bought plastic crates because we were going to do a thing. Because I said, listen, plastic crates? Crates. Downstairs, all the shelves that I've just got stuff on. A lot of it is like it's like a museum. Here's all the Xboxes. And I said, babe, you know what? I don't need them on display. It's not a – so they can all go in boxes. They can be packed away.

0

187.682 - 203.115 Trevor Long

So let's just get a bunch of boxes. Right. Anyway, there's not enough boxes at Bunnings, but she buys a couple and we start – So which one? The little – the bins? The tubs? Yeah, just plastic crates, right? Yeah, got a few of them. And, you know, we did pretty good and there was a lot – like we filled the bin. We filled the bin out the front. Like Amanda – Oh, it was rubbish.

0

203.155 - 206.398 Trevor Long

Amanda went down to the merchant – the EFTM merch –

0

206.378 - 228.117 Trevor Long

shelf and she goes i can tidy this my own i know what it all is so she's signing up and then she i see her walking out with a rug yeah and she goes what's this rug and i went it's the rug from upstairs she goes but you don't have it upstairs i went yeah because i put a new one down she goes well throw it away throws it in the bin and yeah so there's a lot of stuff thrown out i went through a lot of things and you know just stuff that i was keeping for no reasons and threw it all out yep and then amanda came up here

229.379 - 246.94 Trevor Long

Because she's like, people are going to come. You've got to clean the toilet. I said, I've cleaned the toilet. I clean the toilet every week. And she goes, this is disgusting. I went, it's clean. I cleaned it. She brought a candle. I don't know if you noticed the candle in there. I lit that before you came. I thought I'd light it up. It's the thing it smelled to me the other day.

247.22 - 253.007 Trevor Long

And then she said to me yesterday or the day before yesterday, she goes, what time's Stephen arrive? I went, I don't know, like 9 or 10.

Chapter 6: What challenges did Trev face while cleaning?

253.027 - 271.172 Trevor Long

She goes, because I'll come and I'll clean the bathroom before he gets there. And I went, that's ridiculous. What are you doing here, babe? He's been here for years. It's not an issue. And then today she goes, I'm not going to make it in time, so I'll do it next week. And then I'm like, one day next week she's going to be here cleaning the kitchen.

0

271.913 - 281.627 Trevor Long

We came back that night after cleaning and she had the measuring tape out. She's going to buy cupboards for above the kitchen, cupboard for above the toilet to put stuff in. And I'm like, babe. That's a good idea.

0

281.607 - 304.105 Trevor Long

we own this place now we're going to make it work and you know I'm like oh my god woman's touch then she rings a plumber and goes we're getting a new toilet and I went what are we getting a new toilet for and she goes there's tape on it it's just a toilet seat you get a new toilet seat you don't buy a whole new toilet and she goes no it's a bad toilet I like the ones at our house get the new ones the new modern looking ones wow so now we're getting a new toilet well good for you but your wife wants the best for you mate that's good

0

304.085 - 320.811 Trevor Long

She said to me last night, one of the kids said something like, have you told dad that? And she goes, yeah, I rang him and he got grumpy at me as he always does when I ring. And she goes, she was putting something in the fridge. I remember it vividly. She goes, this is why Stephen and his wife talk because he doesn't talk to her like that on the phone. I'm like, oh.

0

320.791 - 333.793 Stephen Fenech

Oh, damn. It's all coming out now, yeah. Well, you know what? Like the whole cleaning thing, that's sort of something being ingrained in me because my old man had a massive cleaning business. Yeah, cleaning business, yeah. So cleaning was central.

Chapter 7: How did Trev's family dynamics influence the cleaning process?

333.913 - 354.613 Stephen Fenech

Ajax, right? Ajax, yeah. It was central to us. And I used to work for him when I was at school and I'd know how to clean toilets and clean everything. What would your old man think of your office state? My office? The new office? Yeah. Just, you know, how it's been at times. You mean the tidiness of it? Yes. Yeah, he'd say. The cleanliness of it, though. It's clean, but it's just untidy.

0

355.655 - 366.09 Stephen Fenech

No, mate, I can clean a toilet with the best of it, mate. I know how to do all that. I was trained as a kid. and had those duties at home. I don't clean the bathroom when you're coming.

0

366.25 - 379.665 Trevor Long

I clean the bathroom when other people are coming. Who cares, right? Well, yeah, I like to keep stuff clean. Here's my deep secret is I'm loving it. I'm excited that Amanda's more involved in that sense.

0

379.685 - 380.847 Stephen Fenech

That's great. That's nice, mate.

0

380.947 - 383.49 Trevor Long

I want her to feel like this is not a place she can't come.

383.75 - 389.256 Stephen Fenech

This is a thing I've learned about my wife and yours. They've got a different love language.

390.017 - 390.117

Yeah.

390.097 - 398.189 Stephen Fenech

Right? Her love language. That's her love language, what she just did for you. It may well be the case. And Joe's the same. Joe does things for me and leaves stuff out for me and suggests things.

398.65 - 399.211 Trevor Long

So get this.

Chapter 8: What lessons did Trev learn about family collaboration?

622.845 - 638.702 Stephen Fenech

We're on a family chat, yeah. I think my daughter said, Jacqueline said, from season four has started, or whatever it was. And then Hayley replied, in English, please. She didn't know what she was talking about. From the TV show. And she goes, oh, okay, yeah.

0

638.682 - 667.963 Trevor Long

no we're all joe doesn't like it she's she's not a real because yeah there's some scary gory scenes yeah right but um yeah the kids love it now we we uh we're right into it uh but a way to stay connected though it's not just the family chat's great yeah we've got a group chat called grandma's gang which is my mum and basically all of her kids and grandkids um and you know my mum will just post a photo of a donut from young because she knows i love them and then everyone will chime in or someone had a birthday and everyone's like happy birthday i'm glad your mum knows how to do that how's it good is that

0

667.943 - 674.632 Trevor Long

And then I'll just chime in with Google Photos because I've got everyone's photos from the last 20 years. All the young ones, I've got their baby photos.

0

674.652 - 675.533 Stephen Fenech

That's great.

0

675.673 - 691.758 Trevor Long

And yeah, it's cute because mum will just randomly post something and it's like, what are you doing, mum? I spoke to mum the other day. She rings me and I don't know how she brought it up. Anyway, she brings up that they've only got Netflix. I'm like, what's happened? I gave them a TV when they moved, which I hadn't set up.

691.778 - 693.101 Stephen Fenech

Have they been logged out of something?

693.221 - 706.168 Trevor Long

And yeah, she goes, we've only got Netflix. Nothing else is working. I went, you know, that's because we pay for it all. Like all of your children are paying for all your accounts and they've obviously just been logged out. And she goes, I said, well, we'll fix it when we're down there next week. And she goes, it's been happening for like a month. And I went,

706.148 - 722.368 Trevor Long

Your entire family was in the lounge room like a week and a half ago. Like you had 15 fucking people in the room. You didn't go, by the way, can someone log in? I said, especially because I'm going down on my own or with Amanda, but the kids aren't coming. That's a delegation thing. I'd say, Harry, log it in. Harry, log it into all these things.

722.388 - 744.358 Stephen Fenech

My mum sometimes gets logged out of things. She loves 10 play. Because all of her, like Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful, she likes that. And she's been signed out a couple of times. Because she uses – like her Foxtel is her life, right? So she does everything on Foxtel, including the apps as well. And I've logged her in a couple of times. But, yeah, she knows about that.
