Gender and Climate change: why are women at more risk from global heating?

Date of lecture: Tuesday 7 December 2021 About the lecture: Priti Parikh will be discussing how women bear the burden of lack of infrastructure and how climate change further exacerbates this inequity. Virginie Le Masson will then talk about how violence against women and girls undermines their resilience to climate risks and Jordana Ramalho will explore the centrality of home and housing to women's experiences of climate change. About the speakers: Dr Virginie Le Masson ,Co-Director at IRDR Centre for Gender and Disaster. Dr. Priti Parikh , Head at Engineering for International Development Centre at BSSC. Dr Jordana Ramalho , Lecturer in Development Planning for Diversity at The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU). This event is part of UCL’s climate campaign ‘Generation One’.
