Cats are living longer than ever. As they age, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, periodontal disease, arthritis and cognitive dysfunction rise. Nutrition plays a role in minimizing clinical or slowing progression of these conditions, but senior cats with no diagnosed chronic illness also have altered nutritional requirements. Insidious weight loss and a decline in muscle mass contribute to morbidity, quality of life and mortality. This podcast will address what is known and what is believed to be important in feeding older cats to improve their health and wellbeing
