The Seedings | The Means Test with Adam Simpson! (27.04.26)

27 Apr 2026

Transcription

Chapter 1: What is the means test and how does it relate to AFL seedings?

1.162 - 22.992 Gerard Whateley

Whiteley on SEN. We bring the means test to its climax each week with the seedings for Australian Outdoor Living. Dream backyards for all seasons. I'm a little perturbed to see these are being published in the AFL record now. It's sort of out of context. I like the seedings just as long as you're following along to understand what we're doing. But anyway, we're out in the wide world.

23.112 - 25.434 Gerard Whateley

So you left the lines out of your seedings.

0

25.454 - 27.656 Adam Simpson

Yeah, but I could have earned it. I haven't done anything yet.

Chapter 2: Why are the current AFL seedings controversial?

28.476 - 48.822 Adam Simpson

I've got them. They've just slipped in to fourth for me. Yeah, well, you know... I'm going it off this year and I still don't think they've given me the consistency. Their best is pretty good, but I'm going to Geelong go out of the top four, Brisbane go in. I've got Fremantle third. It'll be interesting to see if you've got Fremantle in your top eight, let alone your top four.

Hawthorne two and Sydney in number one.

Yeah. Oh, well, I have put Fremantle in as the results offered me the chance to do that. I'm not falling over myself for Fremantle. They've earned it six in a row, and we'll see them on Friday night. Yeah. But I'm not absolutely falling over myself. Okay. It's toss of the coin, Sydney and Hawthorne, and when they met, Hawthorne won.

73.796 - 93.754 Gerard Whateley

Counterintuitively, though, I'm going to put Hawthorne at three and Sydney at two. I had a lot of whiny Swan supporters last week going, well, yeah, Number one. Well, there is. Go and watch the third quarter yesterday of the Brisbane Lions. And that's wise. That's the benchmark. Brisbane are the rightful one seed. And I expect we'll be most of the year. That's right. It's only my eyes.

94.154 - 100.68 Gerard Whateley

As I said, make your own list. So I'm one Brisbane, two Sydney, three Hawthorne, four Fremantle.

Chapter 3: How do Adam and Gerard evaluate Fremantle's performance?

101.521 - 116.467 Gerard Whateley

Okay. We'll see you this time next week. Yeah. Yeah. The whole problem for me with the Dockers is now if they lose, I'm just going to kick myself from here to Christmas that I put them in. Well, they're going to lose. They've won six in a row, but they lose at the same stage. Don't be losing.

I'm interested to see on Thursday, your top four settings for players. Just for so far this round. Where does Butters fit in the settings of the top four?

0

127.002 - 128.948 Gerard Whateley

Performance, not reputation.

0

129.049 - 130.714 Adam Simpson

Just this year? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
