In this episode we introduce solution-focused coaching. It's an approach that is particularly popular in organisations as it seeks to move the coachee quickly to a solution and a way forward. It's also a coaching approach that doctors tend to feel comfortable with as they are very used to taking a history, considering symptoms, diagnosing a condition, and offering advice on a way forward. Within a coaching conversation the challenges for doctors include refraining from offering advice, allowing the coachee to generate their own options and deciding for themselves how they might move forward. You might recognise some of the elements of the solution-focused approach that we discuss and perhaps even use them in your own coaching without realising where they originated. Enjoy the podcast?
