Episode 18: Auto

06 May 2018

Description

(Intro)A and U in Greek form a diphthong...or two, based on a complex grammar rule, But we'll stick to one for now. A + U make 'AF'. This rule is ignored in English mostly because the Greek words that came here were pronounced in Latin. ΑΥΤΟΣ or ΕΑΥΤΟΣ in ancient Greek and modern Greek means 'the self'. If you spell that you have A+U+T+O and since the Greek final 's' is dismissed in Latin, you stop there. So something that's self sufficient AUTO.Instagram @yourgreeksunday ,Blue Sky @yourgreeksunday.bsky.socialemail [email protected]
