“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.” — Coretta Scott King The word community is used too frequently in the online space these days. Of course this is just my own opinion, but it seems every Facebook group or e-mail list is referred to as a community when the more appropriate term might be gathering space or network. There’s nothing inherently wrong with these groups, but to me, a community should mean something a little bit more and the term should be reserved for groups of people who embody the characteristics and values of a community. In this episode of the podcast, we’re exploring these ideas, and in just 20 minutes you’ll walk away with: A clearer understanding of what a community is and is not, and why it’s important to know the difference A new way to think about online groups like Facebook groups and how to engage with them The key factors that contribute to creating a thriving community The story of how the Legacy Lounge Collective was born and how we’re building it up An invitation to a growing community of incredible women entrepreneurs You’re especially going to love this episode if you are a conscious entrepreneur and having equitable spaces are important to you. I invite you to sit back, listen, and dream of that community you’ve been longing for. It might be closer than you think! Favorite quotes from this episode: “A community isn’t usually founded by one person to advance their personal vision or goal. That would be called an empire.” — Tiffany Neuman “A true community is characterized by sharing a sense of purpose, belonging and mutual support among members.” — TN Links Mentioned In This Episode: Previous Episodes of The Legacy Lounge Join us in the Legacy Lounge Collective Rate, Review, and Follow on Your Favorite Platform!
