Yr Hen Iaith

Yr Hen Iaith (Lefel A): Un Nos Ola Leuad

23 Mar 2025

Description

Trafodwn Un Nos Ola Leuad yn y bennod hon. A ninnau yn ffilmio yn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru, cewch weld llyfr nodiadau Caradog Prichard ei hun gydag un o’i gynlluniau gwreiddiol ar gyfer y nofel a drafft o bennod. Rydym ni’n ystyried arddull y gwaith rhyfeddol hwn a’r modd y mae’n symud rhwng cywair tafodieithol a chywair ffurfiol. Archwiliwn nifer o agweddau ar y nofel, gan gynnwys ei hymdriniaeth â salwch meddwl, tlodi, crefydd a chreulondeb. Nodwn hefyd wrth fynd heibio fod y gwaith arloesol hwn wedi cael effaith sylweddol ar artistiaid Cymraeg eraill. * We discuss Un Nos Ola Leuad in this episode while filming at the National Library of Wales, with Caradog Prichard's own notebook with one of his original plans for the novel and a draft of a chapter in front of us. We consider the style of this remarkable work and the way it moves between dialectal and formal tones. We explore many aspects of the novel, including its treatment of mental illness, poverty, religion and cruelty. We also note in passing that this innovative work has had a significant impact on other Welsh artists.
