日本による植民地支配時代だった1912年、韓国の地下資源を略奪するために開発された始興(シフン)鉱山。始興(シフン)鉱山は、ソウルの近郊、京畿道(キョンギド)光明市(クァンミョンシ)駕鶴山(カハッサン)の中腹にありました。1972年の廃鉱以降、40年間、始興鉱山はその一部だけが小エビの塩辛の貯蔵倉庫として使われていました。2011年、この廃鉱を買い取った光明市は、ここに「光と黄金」をテーマにした「光明(クァンミョン)洞窟テーマパーク」を作ります。今や、年間150万人の観光客が訪れる首都圏を代表する観光スポットとなった、廃鉱の奇跡と呼ばれる「光明洞窟」への旅に出かけます。
