一席主播Selah:我从非洲回来啦！

主播：Selah | 翩翩歌曲 ：Me & God我们的主播Selah暑期去了Uganda, Africa（非洲乌干达），在那里度过近1个月的时间。今天我们就来聊一聊美国女生Selah不一样的夏天。1. 为什么去非洲？在那里都做什么？Selah是美国人，在大学读的特殊教育专业，因为非洲很多人may have medical problems or disabilities（有健康问题或身体残疾），但是他们却缺少 resources or knowledge（资源或知识）方面的帮助，所以他们去那里提供援助。Selah是跟一个组织去的，这个团队里有像Selah一样的special education teachers（特殊教育老师），有nursing students（护理学生），还有therapists（治疗师）。*medical /ˈmedɪk(ə)l/  adj. 医学的，医疗的*disability /ˌdɪsəˈbɪləti/ n. 缺陷，残疾*resource/ˈriːsɔːrs/ n. 资源*therapist /ˈθerəpɪst/ n. 治疗师暑假去乌干达，他们bring wheelchairs to villages（给农村带去一批轮椅），trainlocal teachers and leaders（培训当地的老师和领导），并且还help diagnose disabilities to people in need（帮助有需要的人诊断是哪方面的残疾）。他们此行的目的，就是要bring hope to those living with a disability（给那些残疾人士带来希望）。他们会进行disability simulations（残疾模拟），让人体验残疾的感觉，这样能更理解残疾人。比如说，他们会put stickers on glasses to see what it felt to be blind（把小贴纸粘到眼镜上体验盲人的感受），又或者是put heavy weights on someone’s legs to make walking challenging（在腿上负重来模拟行走障碍）。*diagnose/ˌdaɪəɡˈnoʊs/ v. 诊断；判断*simulations /ˌsɪmjuˈleɪʃ(ə)n/ n. 模仿 2. 在非洲的生活是什么样的？Many people in Africa walk everywhere by foot or use public transport（出门步行或靠公共交通）. 那里的路are very bumpy and unstable（颠簸不稳）。那里的人，也是喜欢do everything together（什么事都一起做），并且通常是一大家子人live under one roof（生活在一个屋檐下）。这跟亚洲文化有点像：collective country, one nation, one family（是集体主义的）。生活在那里的人，有着乐观的生活态度：No matter how much money someone has, they still find things to be happy about!不管富裕与否，他们都会找到一些令人快乐的东西！*bumpy /ˈbʌmpi/ adj. 颠簸的*unstable/ʌnˈsteɪb(ə)l/ adj. 不稳定的*collective/kəˈlektɪv/ adj. 集体的Selah在非洲也是游览了很多地方。他们got to go on a safari（进行了观兽旅行），并且看了许多wild animals（野生动物），比如说hippo（河马）, lion, jaguar（美洲豹）, giraffe, gazelle（羚羊）。*safari /səˈfɑ:ri/ n. （尤指在东非的）观兽旅行*jaguar/ˈdʒæɡwɑːr/ n. 美洲豹*gazelle/ɡəˈzel/ n. 羚羊Selah他们还got to go on a boat ride over the Nile River（乘船游尼罗河），而且还got to visit the world’s most powerful waterfall（参观了世界上最强大的瀑布）。除了有很多好玩的地方，乌干达还有很多 very delicious food，尤其是fresh fruits, and vegetables（新鲜的水果和蔬菜）。 Mango trees were everywhere.到处都是芒果树。除了外出游玩，Selah他们大多数的时间都是和孩子们在一起，要么是教那些正常的孩子how to love their friends with disabilities（如何去爱身体有残疾的孩子），要么是给那些身体有残疾的孩子带去hope, help and a smile（希望、帮助和笑容）。3. 有什么文化差异吗？所有女人的穿着不能暴露，穿裙子的话，you have to wear long dresses or skirts（要穿长裙），这样才是appropriate in their culture（在当地的文化中是合宜的）。*appropriate/əˈproʊpriət/ adj. 合适的那边的 white people are not very common（白人不多），所以总是会有many people stared at them（盯着Selah他们看）。乌干达有很多美食，也有很多street food and street vendors（街头小吃和街头小贩）。*vendor /ˈvendər/ n. 小贩让Selah感到惊讶的是，没想到在乌干达会有那么多的中国人。因为中国对非洲有援助，那里有很多Chinese signs, restaurants，还有workers constructing roads and bridges（修建道路和桥梁的工人们）。Selah给同行的人读一些中国标志上的汉字，这把她的小伙伴们都惊到了。乌干达以前发生过Civil War（内战），两个民族之间相互屠杀了上百万人，有些人的残疾是因为战争的时候，bombs, guns, landmines（炸弹、枪支、地雷）造成的injuries（伤害）。*landmine /ˈlændmaɪn/ n. 地雷*injury /ˈɪndʒəri/ n. 伤害，损伤4. Selah非洲之行最难忘的是什么？The most impactful thing to Selah：这里的人，哪怕是due to their disability（因为残疾），get isolated from society（被社会隔离），每个人依然很幸福。*impactful /ɪmˈpæktfl/ adj. 影响深远的*isolated/ˈaɪsəleɪtɪd/ adj. 隔离的People would do everything they had to take care of their families. 尽全力保护自己的家人。这个很容易共情，尽全力护家人周全的舐犊之情，到哪里都是一样的。有的父母要走6-7个小时，带孩子去Selah他们的clinic（诊所）去诊疗。乌干达人民都很有文化自信。他们对自己国家的文化、语言、食物等都感到proud（自豪），而且都是excited and proud to share（很兴奋、自豪地去分享）。They were so warm and welcoming.非常热情！请留言告诉我们：你还有哪些想听的话题？
