日照香炉生紫烟，遥看瀑布挂前川。飞流直下三千尺，疑是银河落九天。此诗以庐山香炉峰入笔描写庐山瀑布之景，用“挂”字突出瀑布如珠帘垂空，以高度夸张的艺术手法，把瀑布勾画得传神入化，然后细致地描写瀑布的具体景象，将飞流直泻的瀑布描写得雄伟奇丽，气象万千，宛如一幅生动的山水画。其中第二首七绝历来广为传诵。其前两句描绘了庐山瀑布的奇伟景象，既有朦胧美，又有雄壮美；后两句用夸张的比喻和浪漫的想象，进一步描绘瀑布的形象和气势，可谓字字珠玑。
