点击下载全文；点击下载《中国民主季刊》2024年第一季完整版： 当代中国人的民族主义行为并不仅仅是洗脑的结果，在更大程度上它还是社会边缘人群自己的选择。在极权主义体制中，社会边缘人最容易成为民族主义的载体。这是因为民族主义可以成为边缘人实现社会流动的手段。尤其在当代中国，作为操纵民众手段的民族主义是中共政权敢于在一定程度上向民众开放的唯一的公共空间，所以生活于社会底层、苦于被剥夺了社会流动机会的边缘人，就更加希望表现自己具有爱国意识。但社会边缘人却无法意识到其中的二律背反的逻辑关系：他们为了摆脱边缘人的社会地位而配合当局的民族主义的行为，只会促使当局为了生产更多的社会边缘人而制造更多的社会不平等。
