太阳是太阳系的中心天体,太阳和地球的平均距离约1.5亿千米,虽然距离这么远,但是太阳为地球提供了源源不断的能量来源。那么,太阳为什么会发光发热呢?太阳的能源来自哪里呢?太阳的能量来自于内部的核聚变反应。太阳主要由氢组成,氢占太阳总质量的70%以上,其次是氦,其他元素加起来也只有1%。太阳核心的温度高达1500万度,有2500亿个大气压。在这样高温、高压条件下,太阳内部每时每刻都在进行着氢聚变为氦的核反应。就在这种核聚变反应中,会释放出巨大的能量。在核聚变链式反应中,两个氢原子核(质子)聚合,放出一个中子和一个中微子,生成一个氦2核。氦2核再与一个氢原子核反应,放出一个γ光子,生成一个氦3核。两个氦3核聚合,生成一个稳定的氦4核,同时放出两个质子。整个过程中,四个氢核聚合,生成一个氦4核,同时放出两个中子、两个中微子和两个γ光子。太阳向外释放的能量,绝大部分由γ光子携带。
