菠菜是我们日常食用的蔬菜，是百姓餐桌上的家常菜，具有丰富的营养，别看小小的菠菜，最早是进献给唐朝的贡品。菠菜原产在波斯，也就是现在的伊朗，据《唐会要》记载，尼波罗（也作泥婆罗，现在尼泊尔、印度一带）进贡菠菜种子给唐太宗，说其根为红色，做熟后味道不错。《新唐书-西域传》也记载了贞观二十年（公元647年）进贡菠菜的事情。当时称其为菠棱菜，不过炼丹的道士称其为波斯草，并特别喜欢吃菠菜，原因据说是吃菠菜可以化解丹药后带来的不适感。在这之后，菠菜作为家常菜，陆陆续续的成为我们的家常菜。
