从古代社会开始，酒一直被赋予一种重要的社会文化功能。一项新的研究发现了9000年前中国南方就有人喝啤酒的证据，鉴于研究中的陶器处于一个非居民区的墓葬，研究团队推测，这可能是当时纪念死者仪式的一部分。该研究近日发表在美国《公共科学图书馆·综合》（PLOS ONE）杂志上。这些发现是研究团队基于对浙江义乌桥头遗址一处墓葬中发现的古代陶器的分析得出，这也使得桥头遗址成为世界上最早饮用啤酒的地方之一。
