"BNCT"全名叫做"boron neutron capture therapy"，中文译意为"硼中子俘获疗法"，即硼与中子撞击治疗肿瘤技术.相较于传统放疗，BNCT体现出生物靶向性，即能够将靶向能力精准体现到细胞水平，对肿瘤周围健康组织的损伤极小，对部分传统放疗不敏感的肿瘤细胞也能产生较高的生物学效应，获得良好疗效。目前，全球仅日本上市了首个硼中子俘获疗法（BNCT）设备及首个硼药Steboronine，被批准用于无法切除的局部晚期或局部复发性头颈癌。
