若干年前，万芳在她的演唱会上，讲了这么一个故事：90年代初，那时候万芳刚出道，刚发唱片。某天，她走在台北的某个巷弄里，忽然迎面走来了一个女孩，学生模样，低着头，手上夹着书。女孩与她擦肩而过，并没有抬头看万芳，可万芳却听到了女孩正在小声地哼唱着她的歌。从那以后，万芳便时常会想：那时的女孩，正遭遇着什么呢？她哼着歌的时候，是怎样的心情呢？我的歌，是否有带给她怎样的能量、对她产生了什么样的影响呢？今晚，万芳与好妹妹相遇，给自己播一首《试着了解》，试着在万芳和好妹妹的歌声里，得到了解，得到安慰。
