娟子自己回娘家。想起当年嫂子回娘家时的情景。嫂子生长在山村里，有吃团子的风俗习惯，就是每年正月三十一日晚，把出嫁了的姑娘们请回来，让他们品尝红小豆粥，煮汤团子，可能这是留恋昔日的红小豆粥的习俗吧。这样的大雪天，打算回去吗？母亲说，他相送背着孩子出门的嫂子，心里有点不乐意，回娘家值得这么高兴，都有了孩子，还那么孩子气，你嫂子如果不快，快些适应这个家，可就不过就说我吧，即使出嫁了，我也永远会留恋这个家人。要是我不怕这回娘家，恐怕妈妈也会很寂寞的吧。娟子说，战争期间，村里缺少男劳力，嫂子甚至参加了女子流动马跟队，还是个劳动能手呢。嫁到镇子上来，尽管肉体舒服了，却总觉得生活里缺少了什么。娟子是同情她的。娟子想象着，现在，嫂子正在大雪纷扬的山路上艰难地行走，急于回娘家的身影不仅。
