马宏杰，54岁，中国国家地理杂志摄影师。他有一个表弟，大家都叫他老三，是洛阳市郊的一个菜农，患有小儿麻痹症。从 1998 年到 2010 年，马宏杰跟随老三多次前往西北部贫困地区「招妻」。「招妻」其实就是花钱买妻。老三相亲无数，先后买过四次老婆，前三个因为种种原因，都没能成功。他现在的妻子红梅也曾在成婚后不久逃回老家，后因惧怕父亲再次将她卖掉，而重新回到老三身边。「我觉得你没法用道德标准，或是用一种你的生活环境里的文化程度去指责那些穷的地方的人。因为对一个贫困地方的女孩子而言，如果想改变命运的话，出嫁是最好的方式。」
