王阿夫，44岁，对外汉语教师。阿夫93年从国内大学中退，去日本留学。在日本东北部的秋田大学上大三时，她遇到了来自丹麦的交换留学生老米。两个人开始交往后不久，阿夫的父亲突然病重，阿夫和老米一同回国探望。回国后的第三天晚上，阿夫的母亲突然提出了结婚冲喜的请求。
