每次認識新朋友，總有人問：「你是不是原住民？」這個問題出現得太頻繁了，不由得不去追查自己的身世。 平埔族不是國家認定的法定的原住民，在國家體制中處於不存在的狀態，然而在不同地區有不同程度的文化保留，有些地方的平埔族人很有自信對外承認自己的身份，有些地區缺乏文化語言的證據，能夠說出來的東西不多，因此比較沒有自信。
