沖縄出身の山之口獏の詩は、フォークシンガーの高田渡にも歌われ、世に広く弘ましました。戦前に上京し極貧の野宿生活を送りますが、その人柄は愛され、山之口が頻繁に職務質問をされるのを耳にした佐藤春夫は人物保証書を書いて持たせたそうです。確固たる主張を込めた詩作とはべつに、山之口にはどこかあっけらかんとしたユーモアが漂います。そんな人柄が見えてくる随筆です。 Beautiful reading of Japanese.
