いくつかの児童文学作品を残した木内高音は優秀な編集者でもありました。宮沢賢治の才能をいちはやく認めた人です。高音（たかね）は本名で、生まれたときの産声が大きかったことから名づけられたそうです。名前とは違い普段は（酒さえ飲まなければ）声を荒らげたりしない人だったと言われています。鈴木三重吉に私淑して赤い鳥社に入社し、編集をしながら作品執筆に取り組みました。これもその一つです。
