第17回目は、真夏の装丁家回。 前半は児童書やエッセイ、実用書など幅広いジャンルの本のデザインをする若井夏澄さん。なんと、ぼくの小学生のときの同級生でもあります。三十数年前、ともに机をならべていた友だちが同業になるとはなんだか不思議な気分です。 後半は鈴木千佳子さん。本屋さんにいって、話題の本を見渡すと鈴木さんが装丁した本ばかり。その丁寧な仕事ぶりから、編集者やイラストレーターにもファンが多い、人気のデザイナーです。 ひとくちに装丁家といっても、本づくりをするようになったきっかけはさまざま。これまでの道のりや、装丁のたのしみと苦労、近ごろ装丁した本などについて、あれこれきいてみたいとおもっています。
