“小雨”不是“small rain”, “大雨”也不是“big rain”

夏天到了天气万千变化各种雨瓢泼大雨、细雨淅淅、毛毛细雨由小至大，各种形态说到“大小”，很多人一般都会使用small和big然而在形容“雨”的大小方面可不能说“big rain”、“small rain”一起来学习各种“雨”的表达~01小雨的英文表达小雨的常用表达是light rain，降水量小light作形容词时，有“少量的、轻的”意思例：After a light spring rain，leaves began to sprout from trees. 下了一场小小的春雨后，树木开始长出新芽。此外，下雨还有其它经典表达：drizzle [ˈdrɪzl] v. / n.（下）毛毛细雨；绵绵细雨例：Clouds had come down and it was starting to drizzle. 云压了下来，开始下起了毛毛雨。sprinkle [ˈsprɪŋkl] v. / n. （下）小雨例：It began to sprinkle in the afternoon. 下午就开始下起小雨了。02大雨的英文表达英语中形容雨大用heavy"重"，表示雨量很大大雨可以说heavy rain也可以说It rains heavily.例：Hundreds of flights have been canceled since the heavy rain began three days ago. 过去三天的大雨让很多航班被取消了。另外表达“下大雨”还有个常用的句子：It's (really) coming down.03暴雨、倾盆大雨暴雨、倾盆大雨的英文表达可以用下面几种：①torrential rain 暴雨，瓢泼大雨torrential [təˈrenʃl]例：Guangzhou was hit by torrential rain last night. 广州昨晚下起了暴雨。②downpour [ˈdaʊnpɔː(r)] 暴雨，倾盆大雨例：I got caught in a downpour, and now I'm soaking wet. 我赶上了一场暴雨，现在浑身都湿透了。③It's pouring.和downpour相似 例：Lookout the window！It's pouring outside.快看窗外，简直是倾盆大雨。④rain cats and dogs俚语，现在外国人很少用了例：It's raining cats and dogs out there.外面下起了大雨。04雷阵雨thundershower[ˈθʌndəˌʃaʊə]雷阵雨，常伴随闪电雷鸣例：We were playing football when a thundershower occurred. 当雷阵雨来袭时，我们正在踢足球。After the thundershower, we saw a rainbow in the sky. 雷阵雨过后，我们在天空中看到彩虹。
