测定日地距离的方法,最容易想到的莫过于三角测量法了,也就是测量太阳的视差。比如,在南半球和北半球两个相距很遥远的天文台同时观测太阳,把太阳在天空中的位置精确地测出来,再根据两座天文台的相隔距离计算出日地距离,但这个方法是一个典型的知易行难的问题,讲讲原理简单的不得了,可是,限制条件太多。远隔万里的两天文台要协作,哪有那么容易,并且太阳在望远镜中的视面积很大,测量精确位置本就不易。(一个点的坐标好测,一个圆的坐标反而不好测了)。所以,用这个方法测量日地距离从来就没有真正的成功过。看来,要想把天文学第一问题攻破得换个思路,想出点新的招数来。
