【鏡花怪異譚】明治28年発表 黒猫・その1の続きエピソード。 武家の娘・お小夜（さよ）のもとを訪ねた盲人の富の市は、なかなか帰る気配がない。 やがて辺りが暗くなり、お小夜たちは鮎釣りに出かけたまま戻らない弟・秀松のことが気にかかる。 お小夜は暮色の戸外に立ち出で、門の前を横切る小川の橋のたもとに佇みながら、秀松の帰りを待つのだった。 けたたましい音がして振り向くと、富の市が転んだ拍子に杖を流れに落としてしまっているのが見える。それは実は富の市の策略だったのだが、お小夜ははかりごとに気づかず、富の市に手を差し伸べるのだったーーー
