大家在日常的工作、生活之中，经常会遇到一些喜欢推卸责任的人，这种行为我们在粤语里面称为“卸膊”。膊，也就是肩膀，粤语称为“膊头”。以前一般人家没有其他运输工具，又没有快递，都是靠肩膀挑担挑运送物资，所以肩膀也就被视为担当责任的象征，如果一群人一起搬运，一个人不想出力，侧一下肩膀，将自己肩膀上的负担卸去一部分，那就不但增加了其他人的负担，甚至还会影响整个搬运工作。这种行为在粤语里面就被称为“卸膊”。后来，卸膊被引申为推卸责任的意思，与普通话里的“撂挑子”可谓异曲同工之妙。
