正所谓“好佬怕烂佬”，一般正当人家，如果遇到蛮不讲理的泼皮无赖，通常都会退避三舍，避之则吉。但如果泼皮遇上无赖，一个比一个没底线，那么状况往往会十分胶着，谁也拿谁没办法。在粤语里面，对于这种状况有个说法，叫“光棍遇着冇皮柴”。光棍在这里并非指单身汉，而是指无赖或骗子，至于“冇皮柴”，是指剥去了树皮的木柴，实际上也是光棍一条，只是换了个称呼而已。所以光棍遇着冇皮柴，其实就是光棍遇着光棍，无赖遇上无赖，骗子遇上骗子，谁也不比谁有道德，大家做起坏事来都是半斤八两，所以也就往往难分胜负。这句话通常用来讽刺两个坏人或者自己讨厌的人互相争斗，最后谁也占不了便宜，甚至两败俱伤。
