【英語はリズムで聞け】Modern Familyでフレーズの発音トレーニング（リズム編）

日本人が英語が聞き取れない一番の原因は、日本語の発音にはリズムが無いから。 日本語は全ての音を比較的同じ長さ、同じ強さで発音されるため、その全部を聞き取って理解しようとします。 しかし英語を始めとしたヨーロッパの言語はストレスというものがあります。ストレスというのは言葉のリズムの拍を取る部分です。 例えば、connectionという単語の発音。日本語の感覚だと「コ・ネ・ク・ション」という感じで全部のシラブルを同じ様に並べて発音されます。 それに対して英語は /ku-NEKshun/ という感じで、指定されたストレスを中心に発音されます。なのでストレス以外の音はわりとボケてしまいます。 これが英語のリズムを形成している原理です。 そしてフレーズの発音になると、at, in, for, theなど補助的な単語は内容語とセットで発音されるため、聞き取ろうと思っても、その音は独立していないため聞き取れない。 なので英語の発音リズムが分かると英語が一気に聞き取れるようになるというわけです。 今回のエピソードではこの英語の発音リズムにフォーカスしてトレーニングを行なっていきたいと思います。 練習手順 ・短いフレーズに区切る（最小限の意味のかたまり） ・フレーズの意味取り（フレーズの意味を積み上げて理解） ・ストレスを中心に発音する（内容語） Mitch and Cam are Lost at the Airport – Modern Family Okay, Mr. Pritchett, there is a connecting flight through Dallas that leaves in five minutes.
