【语音小课堂】Speak of the devil 才不是说到魔鬼的意思喔

 说曹操曹操到、小别胜新婚、物以类聚，这些我们常说的成语或谚语该如何用英文表达呢？只要将以下5句经典谚语学起来，对写作或是日常会话都超实用喔！「欲速则不达」的英文是什么？来自英语口语精华Club00:0005:35 只凭书的封面是不会知道它的内容好坏的，这告诉我们不要以貌取人！不论面对什么人事物，在下定论前一定要先更深入了解它！ A: He dresses in plain clothes and drives an old car. Who would know he is the richest man in town?他穿著朴素又开旧车，谁会知道他是全镇最有钱的男人呢？B: So that’s why people say “Don’t judge a book by its cover“.所以大家才会说人不可貌相嘛。 当你跟别人的想法一样，想表达支持的时候，用这句话就对了。这句话意指「聪明的人都有一样的思想」，不但称讚到了对方，也称讚到自己了呢！ A: I want to save money. Let’s go to the park instead of going to the movies.我想省钱。我们今天去公园走走，不要看电影了。B: I was just thinking we should do that, too.我也是这么想的。A: Great minds think alike.英雄所见略同。 flock 作为动词有「聚集、成群结队而行」的意思，所以这句话直译就是「有相同羽毛的鸟类就会聚在一起」，也就是我们常说的「物以类聚」。 A: Brian has skipped a lot of classes since he started to hang out with those bad kids.Brian 自从跟那些坏孩子混之后就翘了很多堂课。 B: Well, birds of a feather flock together.唉，这就是物以类聚嘛。speak of 这个片语是指「说到、论及」，而 devil 则是「恶魔」，十八世纪初有一种迷信的说法：”Speak of the devil and he’s sure to appear.” 只要你说到魔鬼，魔鬼就一定会现身。因此衍伸出「说到某人，某人就出现」的意思，也就是我们所说的「说曹操，曹操到」。 A: It’s bad manner of James to keep us waiting. He’s never on time. He’s already thirty minutes late!James 让我们这样等他真是没礼貌，他从来都不淮时，他已经迟到三十分钟了。B: Shall we go now? Oh! Speak of the devil.
