【语音小课堂：遇到国外海关盘问，如何对答如流？】

Business as usual  一般出差出国玩或者开会，与海关对话是下了飞机第一个讲英文的机会。你把手上的护照送上去，当对方看着你的照片，下一句话就是问：「您此趟旅行是商务还是个人行程呢？」(Are you traveling for business or pleasure?)西方国家重视诚恳。如果简单的问题感觉很复杂，而不知道该怎么回答，不要含糊的讲话。如果被询问出差什么目的，也提供简单明了的答案，象是在哪里开会，住什么旅馆。参考一下正确与不正确的例句：(O) For business. I am here for the annual industrial engineering convention. The event is happening at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco. I am staying at the Hilton Hotel, which is also located downtown.我是出差。我来参加每年的工业工程大会。会议在旧金山市中心的Moscone会场中心举行。我住希尔顿酒店，也是位于市中心。(X) I am an engineer. I came to attend a meeting and make a presentation. My colleague will take me to the hotel, sorry, I can’t recall the name of the place right now.我是工程师，来参加一个会议，并做报告。同事会带我到酒店，很抱歉，我不记得那个地方的名字。2. For pleasure 为了休闲旅游基本上来讲，做生意或者开会的人还是有机会观光。可是说自己来玩的人如果是去打工就是说谎了。无论如何，大方的提供资料，让对方感觉你没有什么好隐藏的。如果是来玩，也是大大方方讲，如果本来就是计划去看老朋友，就说是来看朋友，也准备好可以清楚的提供友人的联络信息，可是也不要提供TMI (too much information)。(O) For pleasure. I am on vacation, and I am visiting a friend of mine. She lives in Astoria, Queens. Maybe we will go to Atlantic City over the weekend.来玩。我在度假，也是拜访我的朋友。她住在阿斯托利亚，皇后区。也许我们周末会去大西洋城。(X) I am here for personal reasons, because I need some time to myself. I just lost my job, and I figured I can stay with my friend for a while, and see how things go from there.我出国是为个人原因，因为我需要一些自己的时间。我刚失业。我想在朋友家住一会儿，然后在看状况。海关关员都是受过训练的，在与你对话时，也在观察你的脸色与身体语言。好好的讲话，顺利的入境，下次出门任何国家都会欢迎你。3.  Hotel staff is there to help  当旅馆的人也询问你时….相对的，在旅馆也会面对同样的问题。可以简单的说你是出差。如果是来玩的话，可以请问柜台的意见。不要直接的说是为了乐趣，尤其是单独旅行的男性，一开口就说是自己来找乐子会有一点唐突。(O) I am here for one meeting after another. If everything goes well, I hope to have some free time to myself over the weekend.我来参加一个接一个的会议。如果一切顺利的话，我希望还能有一些在周末给自己一些自由时间。(O) We are on vacation. This is our first time in Seattle, where do you recommend if my husband and I would like to enjoy a romantic evening?我们在休假。这是我们第一次来西雅图。请问如果我与我先生想享受一个浪漫的夜晚，你有没有任何建议？(X) I am here for pleasure.
