今天是世界生物多样性日。今年的主题是：共建地球生命共同体。1994年，《生物多样性公约》缔约方大会第一次会议通过决定，向联合国大会建议将12月29日（《公约》生效日）定为“国际生物多样性日”。同年12月，第49届联合国大会通过了有关决定，以提高人们对生物多样性重要性的认识。由于12月29日与多国节日相冲突，2001年，第56届联合国大会将日期改为5月22日。
