鸟类迁徙（migration of birds）；是鸟类遵循大自然环境的一种生存本能反应，研究鸟类的迁徙行为，了解候鸟的迁徙时间和路线、迁徙数量、种群关系、归巢能力、死亡率、存活率、寿命，以及与繁殖地、越冬地环境的关系等生态规律，对于保护珍稀濒危鸟种、利用候鸟保护农林生产和维护生态平衡、保障航空安全、计划利用经济候鸟、防止流行病的传播、制定法律等可以提供科学的依据。鸟类起源于南方的热带森林，种群的大量繁殖造成了对食物需求量的增加，因此生态压力使得某些鸟类在夏季向北方冰川退却的地扩散，而当冰川来临时再回到南方越冬，久久之，便形成了定期迁徙的行为。
