Smithfield, a Chinese-owned food processor based in Virginia, has a license to manufacture and sell Nathan's Famous hot dogs, sausages, and corned beef in the U.S.

Nathan's Famous, which opened as a five-cent hot dog stand in Coney Island more than a century ago, has been sold to Smithfield Foods in a $450 million all-cash deal.
