We begin um our meetings uh with an invocation as an expression and inspiration, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, which we've just done. The invocation by the council member is intended to underscore our proceedings and we celebrate the religious diversity of the community, including those without a religious faith. This evening we have uh Councilmember Driggs

Revendrigs. Thank you, Mayor Pro Tem. Uh for the invocation tonight I have slightly adapted uh a blessing by Archbishop Charles Chaplet from October two thousand eleven. Please join me if you wish. Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of life and the opportunity to serve the people of our city. Help us to act with character and conviction. Help us to listen with understanding and goodwill. Help us to speak with c charity and restraint. Guide us to be the leaders your people need. Help us see the humanity and dignity of those who disagree with us, and to treat all persons with the reverence your creation deserves. And finally, help us to build a community where all our citizens can live together in peace, a community is worthy of all those who choose to live here.

Thank you very much. Reverend Drees, it was Revriggs. We did it. Confused. That's road memory, Mr. Driggs. Um that's how l that's a testament of uh your service to council. Um with that I'm gonna pass it over to the to the mayor uh for some proceedings before we jump into the zoning meeting. Um before we have the city council's um zoning meeting. Um I'm gonna ask the city attorney to um address the next steps that we're taking in this meeting.

All right. Thank you, Mayor and Members of Council. Uh Uh may remember to council, you sent out a special meeting notice uh last week well in advance of the statutorily required period. That special meeting notice provided. That this meeting will be held at this time, and the purpose of the meeting was to um was to conduct the zoning meeting. There's a closed session as well, and it was also to deal with the district six discussion and a vote. Um the matter uh was uh slated for today, the 19th. It is consistent with the timetable that this council. discussed uh previously and indicated that the decision on the appointment of a vacancy would occur on the nineteenth. Agenda for tonight's meeting, however, did not include the discussion uh on the District 6 vacancy.

Uh and therefore, under your rules, in order to add an item to the agenda, there needs to be a motion and second and a unanimous vote to add that item for discussion tonight as uh uh on your agenda. Uh It its appearance tonight is consistent with the indications and discussions that this council has had previously for the action to be taken uh on this date and at this time.

Mayor I'd like to make a motion uh that we put the district six vacancy vote on our city council agenda for tonight. Second.
