Oh, there we go. Thank you. Now I can tell. I just wanted to do some quick introductions because we have three new staff members here for this item tonight. So as the chair noted, the item is focusing on the permitting process for small residential upgrades. I know there's been a lot of discussion in the past about permit streamlining. This is focused on just a really particular aspect of that of small residential projects. I believe this is a CWP item number four. So this will be something that will ultimately going back to City Council To start the presentation tonight We have planner Julie Garofalo who had done a lot of the research on this and she will be giving the presentation And since this is very much focused on the building divisions work we have both Sean Hatch who is the city's building official and phone degrees who is the deputy building official and

I don't want to give you too much of a buildup, but anyhow, just wanted to get those introductions out of the way, and again, this is a study session item, so however you would like to give us information, that would be helpful. Can you hear me? Good evening, City of Cupertino residents, members of the public, staff, and Planning and Zoning Commission officials. My name is Julia Garofalo, the Assistant Planner here at City of Cupertino, along with Fong Deverys, the Deputy Building Official, and Sean Hatch, our Chief Building Official, to present to you a review of the Community Development Department's assigned City Work Program priority goal efforts on permit streamlining and simplification for small home upgrades. Tonight's study session intends to review outreach findings, discuss current ongoing permit streamlining efforts, and receive direction on next steps. The city work program outlines major priorities for the upcoming two fiscal years and align staff efforts with the goals established by city leaders and by extension the community.

This framework promotes transparency and accountability by directing resources towards initiatives that best serve community needs and priorities. the permit streamlining city work program rule of tonight's focus is identified as, develop a suite of improvements to improve access to and speed the processing of permits for small home upgrades to enhance compliance and improve overall efficiency, improve turnaround times, set service level agreements for staff and outsource reviewers, set customer service, keep KPIs, create templates to reduce back and forth and improve internal staff expertise to reduce consulting expenses. The types of projects considered small home upgrades includes additions of 250 square feet or less, kitchen and bathroom replacements for additions, relocation of appliances and fixtures, and equipment upgrades such as EV charging, heat pumps, furnace, or water heaters, HVAC systems, and whole house or partial re-piping.
