appointed appointed by President George H. W. Bush as Assistant Secretary of the Air Force and Director of the National Reconnaissance Office, where he served until 1993. After he retired from government service, he became the Vice President of MITRE Corporation and rose to be the President and CEO, where he retired in 2006, but he remained on MITRE's Board of Directors. The reason I bring this up is because Marty was my Mason District's Lord Fairfax in 2015 because he served very well for a long time on the Seven Corners Task Force that brought forward the Seven Corners Plan. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I would like to bring our thoughts and prayers and our board's attention to the recent loss of Fran Wallingford. Many of us knew she was the unofficial land use expert in Providence District and beyond, worked for many, many years in our community representing the best interests of all residents. She resided in Mantua and really was well known for her knowledge of the land use process. She belonged to a small and very loose knit alliance of widely diverse interests developers, county planning staff, government officials, local community leaders, those of us who knew Freyann knew that she was vocal as she did her research and she absolutely was both humble and persistent and effective as a land use advocate.

Just recently she had lost her husband of 50 years. So a very loving couple and we are very sad to have seen both of them go. In fact she was known by many as the de facto land use committee for Providence District. Her passing was a shock and a surprise to many of us. She was interred on October 14th.

family-only private graveside service, and she truly was an exemplar to the community. Beyond that, I know we all love our communications with her, her style, her down-to-earth ability to really understand the issues all the way to the minute details. But at home, she was known as a loving grandmother. She had eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. um and i can tell you when i had my daughter she knew how to pick out baby clothes she rarely spoke about her family so i know we were not as as familiar with her five children in her extended family but i do have one quote from nancy goldsmith who served with fran on the mantua citizens associate association she's that fran was always quietly but firmly asking
