And good morning, everyone. Welcome to our board meeting of September 30th, 2025. And we are gonna begin our meeting uh the way we always do, which is to reflect uh on those we would like to keep in our thoughts and prayers. And with that, uh we will follow that with the Pledge of Allegiance. Um and I'm gonna begin just by mentioning uh two individuals that have sadly passed away, and I'm gonna start uh with Bob Grimmett. Uh Bob was the president of Northern Virginia I'm sorry, Virginia Roofing Corporation, uh wore many hats in strengthening our community. In particular, Bob served on the Facets Board of Directors from twenty fourteen to twenty nineteen, two of those years as their board chair. Um and those on this diet know Facets is a trusted partner that serves many residents with health and human services.
Uh Bob made significant impacts during his time at Facets and um all the things that he did uh in our community and I know that the the Facets team uh as well as Bob's family um are are really uh were shocked by his passing and so if we could keep uh Bob Grimet and his family in our thoughts and prayers, I would appreciate that. Um and and then second one, um and this one is is particularly painful and hits close to home uh for us at the Board of Supervisors, but Uh Jane Edmondson passed away and the board might recall that uh several meetings ago I asked that we keep her in our thoughts and prayers that she had had some significant uh complications from a surgery uh that she had, and uh I learned of her passing uh peacefully on September nineteenth.
And again, this was following a stroke she had uh during heart surgery and subsequent lengthy hospitality. hospitalization and I want to thank Uh the folks at Innova that, you know, I reached out to to make sure she was getting the best of care. She had had some challenges making connections her family had, getting her the right care. Uh Jane, as we know, uh had a formidable career in public service. Uh most of us will remember her as the chief of staff to our former colleague John Faust in the Drainsville District. And those um of us on our staff who had the privilege of working alongside Jane will remember uh her as a stro as a charming and strong willed individual. Um who as her family describe, quote unquote, managed to be a powerful force without ever alienating those around her.
And I think that's a strong testament uh to the life that she lived. Uh for those of us who personally got to interact with Jane over many years, I can tell ya she was I mean, I can almost see her sitting here uh where she spent so much time uh behind us. Um and and she was a joy to work with in in every single uh thing that I worked with her on. uh just a first class individual and someone who cared uh so deep deeply about her community and when she went into surgery nobody in her family expected as you wouldn't expect there to be any complications and so this was sudden uh very tough uh for her husband Jim. Their four children and the eleven grandchildren. um that adored her and that and that she adored and so uh Jane's passing is is is hard for a lot of us and and you know she had so much more to give uh to our community.
Um but I think at this moment we're gonna remember all that she gave uh to Fairfax County because she she did a lot, not just in the Drainsville district, but uh for all of us in Fairfax County and so if we could keep uh her husband Jim and her children and grandchildren, uh, in our thoughts and prayers. I would uh certainly appreciate that and and um I know that Supervisor Beerman, I'm gonna recognize him, uh, has some information also um about her service, uh her celebration of life that we would like to share, not just with the board, but if if those of us who Could share that information with people that might have known Jane. I know that uh Jim and her family would appreciate that. And with that I'm gonna recognize Supervisor Beerman.
Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Um Jane was wonderful. Uh Jane uh worked for John for nearly sixteen years and and um she was a force to be reckoned with.
