I am calling tonight's town council um s uh special meeting session here tonight and I've called this special meeting to address the Loudoun County board elections. decision uh to cut out Saturday uh Saturday voting day. They had already cut the Sunday voting. We all know the importance of voting. It is our right and our responsibility as members of our democracy. But we all must recognize that work schedules and home responsibility making voting difficult it making voting difficult for many of us. The last presidential election, thirty five percent of the voters voted on the weekends.

There's no data now to suggest that there will be less people voting on Saturdays and Sundays of this year, except that there are no s Sunday uh voting days. Cutting the numbers of days people have can vote hurts the workers who work two or three jobs and cannot get to the polls during the week, or the parents that work different shifts, and other people that have difficult schedules. Voting should not be difficult. It should be available for all citizens. So I would like to ask this council to make a motion to request the Loudoun Board of Elections reinstate the Saturday voting day that they just cut.
