Kimberly Poole, 2025 Washington Post Teacher of the Year, whereas educators serve as a foundation for our communities. shaping the future through their unwavering dedication to student growth, academic excellence, and the cultivation of lifelong learners. Whereas Ms. Kimberly Poole stands out as an exceptional educator through her unwavering dedication to students, innovative teaching practices, and the deep personal connection she fosters within the school community.
And whereas, over the course of 29 years, Ms. Poole has brought love, light, and learning to J. Lupton Simpson Middle School, first as an English teacher for 25 years, and now as an introduction to computer application teacher, where she encourages students to explore, create, and achieve beyond their own expectations. Whereas Ms. Poole's leadership extends well beyond the classroom, she serves as a trusted advisor for the school's yearbook, a supportive mentor to colleagues, and a constant positive presence at school and community events. Whereas Ms. Poole's legacy is one of inspiration, service, and excellence, making her a true role model for educators and a transformative force in the lives of her students.
And whereas in recognition of her exceptional contributions to education, Mrs. Poole has been named the 2025 Washington Post Teacher of the Year, a distinction that honors not only her accomplishments, but also the profound and lasting difference she has made in the lives of her students. Therefore proclaimed, that the Mayor and the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia hereby recognize and congratulate Ms. Poole on her well-deserved selection as the 2025 Washington Post Teacher of the Year and extend our appreciation to her commitment to excellence in education proclaimed this 10th day of June. The second one we have today is for the 50th anniversary of the Salvation Army. And this one is, whereas ECHO, Every Citizen Has an Opportunity, a nonprofit organization in Leesburg, Virginia, was established in 1974 and began serving adults with disabilities in 1975. Whereas ECHO is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve their optimal level of personal, social, and economic success. And whereas ECHO provides community-based, group-supported employment where individuals work in small groups with onsite support as businesses in the local community.
And whereas this program is designed to maximize everyone's opportunity with their interests. And whereas ECHO has also offers individual support employment to assist in securing employment opportunities through coaching and training.
