Usually we're lonely here. So to have all of you here today, maybe I'll talk longer and keep you no, I won't. Um but um our first um Our first one is our first motion. I have to read into the record and um and then I will uh ask for a motion.

So this is National Hispanic Heritage Month, September fifteenth through October fifteenth. And we celebrate the many ways Hispanic Americans have helped shape our community. And whereas National Hispanic Heritage Month 2025 observance theme is the collective heritage, honoring the past, inspiring the future, showing the resilience of the Hispanic community and celebrating their shared roots in these trying times. And whereas the town of Leesburg's Hispanic resident population contributes in numerous ways to the town's cultural and community through businesses, services, and an active community members. Whereas the National Hispanic Heritage Month was created to showcase and highlight the Hispanic contributions throughout our nation.

And whereas nineteen percent of the town of Leesburg's population identifies as Hispanic and are valuable and essential parts of making the town the vibrant place that it is through their their uh diligence and perseverance, and whereas we welcome Andy Perez from the League of the United Latin American Citizens as a valued member of the community. of the town of Leesburg and thank him for accepting this proclamation on behalf of the Hispanic community of the town of Leesburg. Therefore, the mayor and the town council of Leesburg, Virginia hereby proclaim September fifteenth through October fifteenth. Твита Heritage Month, and encourage all residents. Um the next one is um domestic uh d domestic violence awareness month And the whereas domestic violence affects one in four women, one in six men, and one in two transgender individuals in their lifetime. Each year, domestic violence causes harm to thousands of Virginians, regardless of their race, their age, their sexual orientation, their religion, their gender, or their socioeconomic status.
