This is a proclamation encouraging open and respectful dialogue, whereas the freedom of speech and the right to openly express one's beliefs and opinions are fundamental values of the United States, enshrined in the Constitution and essential to a healthy democracy, whereas the town of Leesburg is committed to protecting and defending the human right to free speech for all persons, regardless of race, religion, sex, or political affiliation. Whereas tragedies in the recent years remind us of the dangers of hatred, division, and violence when civil discourse breaks down. Whereas the town of Leesburg continually affirms to residents of both Leesburg and Loudoun County that hate has no home here, quote unquote, and that we must work together to promote understanding, compassion, and love in the face of division.

And whereas fostering open dialogue, mutual respect, and thoughtful debate strengthens our community, protects our freedoms, and ensures that differences of opinion are addressed peacefully. And whereas the town of Leesburg encourages civic and community organizations and members of the political parties to foster open and constructive dialogue, free of divisive rhetoric, Whereas the town of Leesburg is committed to protecting and defending these rights and to ensuring that discourse remains open, respectful, and safe for all. Therefore, proclaim that the mayor and the council of the town of Leesburg in Virginia do hereby proclaim their support of fostering open and respectful dialogue in all our community and reaffirm the town's commitment to promoting civility, respect, and unity among all residents.

I'm just here to give the report for the year on all the things that the Commission on Public Arts has been doing for Leesburg. As you can see, we have been kind of steady this year on our commissioners, pretty steady group with one new addition. And then just as a reminder, we are an advisory committee to the town council for all the integration of public art into the community.
