Well, good evening, supervisors, good evening staff, good evening Loudoun. Um, and welcome back from the August break, everyone. I like to call to order the September fourth, two thousand twenty four Loudoun County Board of Supervisors business meeting. This room has a hearing loop. Mr. Saints. Thank you, sir. This room has a hearing loop. Um, if you need hearing assistance, please put your hearing aid to the telecall mode. If you need a headset, we have those available as well. Please see the clerk to request one. Before I pass it to Mr. Kirshner for words of wisdom or prayer and then pledge of allegiance, I want to say that today we had unfortunately a school shooting in uh Um Athens, Georgia. We know we have lost four young and beautiful souls.

We do not know if we have lost others. From what I understand, thirty people have um been injured. So we're going to have a moment of silence um for those lost and a hope for the all that were injured to uh recover. So if you join me a moment of silence, please.

Thank you. Mr. Kirschner. Thank you, Madam Chair. Let's Mr. Guy, we just thank you for this opportunity to gather together as a board. Um our different constituents have selected us. Please give us wisdom as we Proceed for there's many things going on in the world, Lord, that Um are heavy on our hearts and our minds and we certainly think of the families and those who have been injured in Appalachi high school shooting, we do pray for them. We pray that you would those treating those who have been injured and we just ask for your grace and your mercy to fall upon them and Only way we know how to ask. Lord, we do pray concerning the Israeli Palestinian conflict and what's going on there, Lord. Um we ask for your hand to resolve that and to bring peace to the Middle East.

And Lord, we do thank you that we have as we approach Constitution Week and we have this tremendous document that, although imperfect at times, has served other countries so well. And Lord, we we're so grateful that you have given that we have this constitution that um Our founders put together and it's preserved us as a people for for so many years. And we pray you'll continue to preserve us as a people here in this county and throughout this nation. And uh we ask this all in Jesus' name. Amen.

Okay, supervisors, I'm gonna read the consent agenda. Um The consent agenda, Mr. Turner by the way, is running late, but he will be here as as soon as he can. The consent agenda is as follows. Item R one, resolution to honor the life, and service of Mr. John Rossman. That is for approval and presentation. Um Mr. Kirshner, are you bringing that resolution? Oh Miss Miss Glass is so Miss Glass will join me that down front for that. Um resolution for uh for appreciation for Courtney Sidner, the deputy county administrator, that is for um uh approval and presentation.

We're gonna do that shortly. Mr. Kirshner and Mr. Sainz will join me down front for that. Resolution f um to recognize polycystic kidney disease awareness day. I believe that's also Miss Glass. And that will is that yours? No. That's yours and mine actually. So you and I are gonna go down front for that one. Resolution to recognize uh two thousand twenty four is can't childhood cancer awareness month. That is Mr um Mr. Laterno will join me down front for that one. Resolution to recognize September 24th as recovery month in Loudoun County. That is for approval only. If anyone would like to join me for that, I will be presenting that later in the month. I'll let you know when, and you can join me for um at the location for that.

Resolution to recognize and celebrate September 17th through 23rd as Constitution Week. We are going to go on and do that one tonight. because it is my understanding that the organization is going to have their uh event on the fifteenth and so although the week is not until the seventeenth to the twenty third
