I'd like to call to order the April 21st, 2026 Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Business Meeting. This room has a hearing loop. Supervisors, before I go to Mr. Croney for a moment of, for Fudge Allegiance and Words of Wisdom, I'm going to ask for a moment of personal privilege, if you don't mind. I once went to Arlington National Cemetery with a friend, and it was interesting because, especially for older headstones, on the front of every headstone, and usually in a grave, a husband and a wife are buried in the same tomb.

On the front of the headstone, it would say, here lies private so-and-so, and it would tell all of his information, what he did, if he earned any medals, where he fought, all of his information. on the backside of that same headstone, it would say, and his lovely wife. And that's all it would say. Some of the headstones would say, here lies Lieutenant so and so, and again, all of their information. On the back of the headstone would say, and his lovely wife Doris. But it wouldn't say Doris Smith, who was a good mother, who was a championship swimmer, who was involved in needlework. It just, his lovely wife is all it said. This past week, we had a horrible tragedy in that the former Lieutenant Governor killed Dr. Serena W. Fairfax.

And within 15 minutes, the report said, former Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax kills himself and his wife. No name, just his wife. She, within seconds, within an hour, became just his wife. So I want to take a second and read who Serena W. Fairfax was, because I believe she deserved more than just his wife. Dr. Serena W. Fairfax earned her Bachelor's of Science degree from Duke University in 1999. She then went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating magna cum laude from VCU's Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 2005, and was inducted as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a dental honor society. She went on to complete a one-year residency in advanced education and dental surgery, also at MCV.

Dr. Fairfax enjoyed all fields of dentistry. She completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, focusing on conservative comprehensive dentistry. Dr. Fairfax considered it an honor and a privilege to serve the community of Fairfax, Virginia. She was committed to serving not only her patients but others as well through participation in community outreach programs, volunteering, sponsorship opportunities, vocational training programs, and contributions to local charities and nonprofits intended to aid individuals and or organizations for people who needed help. Dr. Fairfax was a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental School, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Society.

She recently received an Alumni Association Award from VCU, as an outstanding graduate of the last decade. In her spare time, Dr. Fairfax loved to read, run trails, and run trails with her dogs. She practiced Bikram yoga, she traveled, and she loved to spend time with her children. Dr. Serena W. Fairfax. This week we also lost Madison Warner. She was the daughter of our United States Senator Mark Warner. She was 36 years old. She died of complications of juvenile diabetes. Senator Warner said of his daughter that she filled our lives with love and laughter. We're going to have a moment of silence for Dr. Serena Fairfax and Madison Warner.
