Well, good evening, supervisors. Good evening, staff, and good evening, what I suspect is just about all of Loudoun County today. I'd like to call to order the March 13, 2024 Loudoun County Board of Supervisors public hearing. This room has a hearing loop. If you need a hearing assistance, please switch your hearing aid to the telecoil mode. If you need a headset, we have those available as well. Please see the clerk to request one. As a reminder, all members of the public who are addressing the board this evening, you may only sign up to speak on matters that have been advertised for the public hearing. Due to the broadcast delay, if you are not in the boardroom and you wish to address the board on items one, two, four, five, seven, and eight, which are on our consolidated hearing agenda, please look at the numbers scrolling across your screen at this time.

Okay, there's a couple of things, couple of statements I have to make before we start today. So the first thing I need to do is address some misinformation that has come to our attention. We have received several emails today from the public and from the business community that have talked about whether or not the County Board is going to implement a moratorium or slowdown on data center applications. Let me be very, very clear. We are not sure where that came from, but it is simply Absolutely not true. A motion to, or an effort to do a moratorium or a slowdown is literally not legal. It is illegal to do those things. We are not allowed to do it legally. But even more clear, We're not just acknowledging that it's illegal.

We are not engaging in it. We believe as a board, and I believe I'm speaking for the entire board, that each application that comes before us should be considered independent on its own merits, whether that's a housing application, a business application, a data center application, So that is just not true. If you have put that in your remarks, you will have time, I'm giving you time now to maybe change that, but there is no discussion, no will there be a moratorium or a slowdown from county staff or the county board. We will have a press release that goes out in the morning that states this and says this so that it is, we know, and if we're asked again, My colleagues and I would just refer everyone to that statement that is going out in the morning.

So I hope that clears that matter up. Supervisors, obviously there are a lot of people in the room tonight to speak on at least three different items. I would ask us to try to keep our remarks tight and if you need not make the remarks or you don't think you have to speak, not everybody has to speak on every issue so let's try to keep things a little tight tonight because we wanna get through everything.
