Well, good evening, supervisors. Good evening, staff, good evening, Loudoun. I'd like to call to order the September eleventh, two thousand twenty-four, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors public hearing. This room has a hearing loop. If you need hearing assistance, please switch your hearing aid to the telecall mode. If you need a headset, we have those available as well. Please see the clerk to request one. Before we start today, I want to just commemorate the fact that Today is September eleventh and that twenty-three years ago, um two thousand nine hundred and ninety-seven people got up and went to work like they always do. Uh three hundred and forty-three of them were firemen, sixty of them were police officers, they were moms and dads and sisters and brothers, sons and daughters, aunts and uncles, loved ones, all.
Um and they went to work just to do their regular jobs and They never came home that night. I just want to say at least one name and today I'm going to say the name um of Michelle Lanza. I actually knew Michelle. She went to my church with me. She perished on September eleventh. Um so I'm going to ask for a moment of silence for Michelle and all other victims, not just of that day, but the people who have died as a result of that day, um, from from all the other fallout from nine eleven. So if we can have a moment of silence, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you. Okay. We are now going to do the Pledge of Allegiance. Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. Okay. As a reminder to all members of the public, this evening you may sign up to speak on matters only that have been advertised for this public hearing. During the broadcast delay, any member of the public who are if you're not in the boardroom and you wish to address the board on items number one, two, three, four, and five, which are on the consolidated agenda, please see the numbers scrolling across your screen at this time. Any member of the public, if If you signed up to speak, you will be allowed a allotted two and a half minutes.
If you're in the boardroom, we ask that when your name is called, please come to the podium closest to you. State your name for the record. If you'd like to tell us where you live, you can do that as well, at least with district you live in. The timer on the podium will indicate your remaining time. When your time is up, I will ask that you kneel the floor to the next speaker. If you are providing your comments via telephone, you cannot see um virtually uh the the uh timer. I'm going to ask that you keep your time yourself on a on your own stopwatch or um device and that is because um when you get to two minutes I'm not going to stop you because it interrupts your flow but when your time's up I will stop you.
So if you can monitor your own time I'd appreciate that. Um when taking input for items, I will first ask if there's anyone in the in the boardroom wishing to speak and then I will go to the moderator to ask if there's anyone via uh who wants to speak online. Please note that there's a slight delay between the broadcast and the boardroom. This evening our moderator is Lisa Kennis. Lisa, can you hear me? Good evening, Chair Randall. Yes, I can hear you. Thanks so much. I appreciate that. Supervisors, I need to um uh suspend the rules uh to take us to a very short closed session. And when I say very short I mean no kitten like five minutes. I have some information that I need to impart to uh uh to to all of you at the same time um because you know that's just I doing things one by one by one creates confusion and
I hate confusion, so calling you all individually is n so so I'm gonna ask this to suspend the rules um uh for tonight so we can do a very quick closed session so I can give you some information on the collective bargaining.
