I would like to call to order the June 9, 2026 Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Finance Government Operations and Economic Development Committee meeting. This room has a hearing loop. Item two, award authority increase information technology, hardware, software, and related services.

So through the end of May, I'm happy to report 130 wins, over 7,000 new or retained jobs, and $2.4 billion in new commercial investment. We've conducted over 1,000 business retention visits this year and have worked with about 287 minority-owned businesses. I'm exceptionally proud of the DED team for performing so well in a year that's been, frankly, a little bit challenging. I want to share a very cool economic diversity story with you tonight. Overview Energy, an Ashburn startup, has announced an agreement with Meta to provide up to one gigawatt capacity from solar energy systems that will collect solar energy in space and beam it to existing solar facilities on the ground using infrared beams.

Overview Energy has also won an Air Force contract to beam space solar power to military installations. So, really just an amazing local company with a huge success story there. April is the most recent month for state and local unemployment data. In April, the unemployment rate was 3.2% for Loudoun County compared to 3.8% for Virginia and 4.4% for the U.S. So we've had a nice trend for the county there. The number of job listings in Loudoun for May, slightly down, 3,423 newly posted jobs and 12,594 total active listings. The May jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that nationally 172,000 jobs were added in May.
