Great. All right. So tonight we have a study session. For the Environmental Planning Commission applicant interviews. And the purpose of the meeting is to interview applicants for one opening on the EPC and make the recommendation for adoption. At the december seventeenth, twenty twenty four city council meeting. Would any member of the public joining us virtually or in person like to comment on this item? If so, please click the raise hand button in Zoom. Or submit a blue speaker card to the city clerk. We will take in person speakers first.
How does the council handle public comments before the applicant interviews?
Each speaker will have three minutes. Is there anyone in the audience that would like to speak on this item? Okay, anybody on Zoom? No, all right. So we'll close the public comment session. And um So According to the selection process outlined in Council Policy Number K two, interviews will be conducted in a panel format. Each applicant will receive the same amount of time to answer each question, and the questions selected by the council will be asked in random round robin order to the applicants for each body. The council may be asked may ask a limited number of clarifying questions in the event an applicant's answer was unclear or otherwise not understood. Clarifying questions should not be used to allow an applicant an additional opportunity
To expand on the original response. So um On October seventeenth, twenty twenty-three, the council posed the following questions to EPC applicants in the denoted time limit for each category. Um So we have them here. Does everybody have them here in front of them? Okay. So would any council member like to suggest changes to the questions or propose a a time allocation for each question? Different one? Uh Councilmember Ramirez.

Um I uh would like to suggest uh omitting at least the reference to the Moffett precise plan because that I believe is on the agenda tomorrow for the Planning Commission and it doesn't quite feel appropriate to have Planning Commissioner. disclose their thoughts in advance of the meeting.
That seems legitimate. Okay, so we'll strike Moffitt. It's being discussed separately from the downtown precise plan, isn't it? My understanding. Okay. All right. Um any other comments?
Okay. Um All right, well I'm just gonna go ahead and read these questions and then we'll have the um to make sure everybody's heard and then we'll have the the uh interviewees come forward. Um Uh the first one is what have you personally done to make a contribution to the Environmental Planning Commission or if you were not currently serving, what would you bring to the Environmental Planning Commission that is unique? And that's one minute. Um, and then two minutes. Um, what are your thoughts on the city's existing plans, like the general plan and precise plans, specifically the downtown precise plan? And um the next one is um one minute and a half. How does good land use improve our city? And what is good land use?
And then the fourth one is how would you evaluate proposals to amend the general plan? So th those are gonna be the questions that we ask. So um now I'd like to ask our um three applicants to come forward and take a seat. Um And I I just want to start by saying that We really um appreciate the uh The time and effort that you have taken to apply for this position. I know it takes quite a while to think up the answers and and apply. And so we we we all appreciate you stepping up. Thank you for doing that. And um uh
